We accept cash, debit, credit card, e-transfer, Apple pay, Google pay, PayPal and even crypto (ethereum or solana).
> Can I bring my kids, babies, and/or fur babies?
Of course! We are kid, baby and pet friendly! Just be sure to have the appropriate car seat or booster.
> Can you drop my friends/family off along the way?
We know it’s important to make sure your friends and family also get home safe which is why we have no problem making drop-offs on the way to your destination. Just make sure you have enough seat belts.
> Can I stop for food before going home?
We don’t mind stopping for you to pick up take-out orders, drive-thru or a quick stop at the liquor store within reason. Just make sure to ask in advance when you book your trip.
> Can I prebook my ride in advance?
This is the best way to guarantee your safe ride home especially on Friday and Saturday nights. You can prebook over the phone – hours, days or even weeks in advance.
> Does Friendly Designated Drivers have extra insurance to drive my vehicle home?
After lengthy research and direct consultation with ICBC, we have been advised that you and your designated driver are covered under ICBC’s Unlisted Driver Protection (UDP) in the event of an accident. There is no existing “extra coverage” available for this situation. Please read below for a more detailed explanation.
Purpose:
> UDP allows you to lend your car to drivers not listed on your policy without facing a penalty if they cause a crash.
Free Coverage:
> UDP is automatically included on your basic ICBC insurance policy at no extra cost, as long as no previous crashes have occurred with an unlisted driver.
Occasional Drivers:
> This coverage is designed for situations where you lend your car to non-household members or non-employees who use it occasionally.
Listed vs. Unlisted:
> You should list all drivers who regularly use your vehicle (like household members or employees) on your policy. Unlisted drivers are those who don’t live with you or are not employees, and they only use your vehicle occasionally.
Financial Consequence:
> If an unlisted driver causes a crash, a financial penalty, known as the Unlisted Driver Accident Premium, could be applied if you don’t have UDP.
Conclusion:
> If you have not had any previous accidents in your vehicle with an unlisted driver, UDP is automatically included in your basic coverage and you will be protected.
> If you have previously had an accident in your vehicle with an unlisted driver, UDP is an extra cost and you would need to add UDP to your policy to be protected.
> If you are still unsure that you have Unlisted Driver Protection or not on your insurance policy, it is advised that you call your autoplan broker to confirm.
